For the last two months I've been living in London waiting doing an Internship at the British Fashion Council. My friend kindly let me and my boyfriend stay at her flat for the whole two months. I owe her a million for that otherwise I would even more broke than I am now. London isn't cheap but we managed to do some really cool stuff which was totally free so I thought I should share :

iTunes Festival at The Roundhouse, Chalkfarm.
I was lucky enough to get a sets of tickets to 3 different gig. Me and the bf went to see Two Door Cinema Club and The Foals which was amazing. I did have Paloma Faith tickets but didnt end up going but did see Stephen Fry and Bombay Bycyle Club which was pretty special. Stephen Fry is so knowledgable and mega cool in general. Obviously you cant be guaranteed to get tickets but its so worth applying for them. They have some great band playing. Its a no brainer.

Jacques Townhouse, Fitzroy Street.
This beautiful townhouse was a one off pop up store to promote Jacques Cider. David Carter, owner of 40 winks was creative director of the project. It was a interior was phenomenal and super girly. I took my bf along and he was abit out of place but he enjoyed himself all the same. We were greeted at the door and given a little handkerchief map and gold key to get our free cider. A bellboy took us upstairs to be served some ice cold fruit of the forest ciders. We snacked on cupcakes from the tables of temptation and chilled out in the chill out room. It really was the perfect girly night in like it was advertised and I wish all my girl mates could of come too. You could get your fortune told and play dress up. This pop up shop was only around for two weeks but its always worth seeing if there are any other pop up stores to explore.

Vauxhall Motor Bowling Club, off Brick Lane.
This was abit of a random event but still pretty cool. We went along as some of my boyfriend's friends helped out at the event while working with design duo jiggery pokery. We had free ice creams and actually got to caught how to play bowls from that guy in the blazer there (see pic). The decor of the event was very vibration and has a carnival feel. a great day to spend a sunny saturday after noon.

Maison Martin Margiela '20' Exhibition, Somerset House.
The BFC are fortunate enough to have their office's situation in the spectator somerset house and a managed to get free entry to the MMM exhibition they have their at the moment. It celebrates his 20 years in fashion and showcases some of his best works. My personal and all time favourite margiela piece has to be the sci fi all in one sunglasses. They are something else. However all the pieces there are wonderful. If you wanna go, it is 5 quid, but so so worth it.

I also went to see Rhod Gilbert's radio show being recorded. it was hilarious. my boyfriend signed up for loads of "be the audience" thing on bbc and itv website and you get sent ticket. We are going to see never the buzzcock in nov. totally free and a good laugh.

Free is BEST.

Last thursday me and Jo from goldrush popped down to Kings Road, near Sloane Square to see all the jewels at the wonderful new Azendi shop. We met up with Sarah and Lisa there who are both on our sister course at uni. Such a small world. Lisa took us around the store and showed us some fabulous jewellery. My personal favourites were the shaun leane and stephen webster jewellery and the sick twina watches (more over toy watch). We chatted, drank cocktails, got abit tipsy (drunk), had a nibble on some sushi and had a grand night. Even ronnie wood turned up to see what was going on. The store is beautiful and all jewellery looks spectacular in it. If your ever in london you should definitely venture down to 104 kings road to have a look around. Its an beautiful area.

UPDATE :-

So I haven't had alot of time to blog recently. After an unplanned last minute call from the british fashion council, I started an internship there on the 16th and been there for a week and abit now. I'm really enjoying it there, everyone is lovely and its exciting seeing how organising fashion week and the behind the scene bits. While sorting through loads of business cards, i've found a massive list of designer i've never heard about but think are amazing. I think i have totally lost the list i made but hopefully ill find it soon and share some with you.

I've also been living in london for the past week with my boyfriend at my friends flat while she was on holiday. Its been lovely and yesterday we went to hampstead health mixed ponds and had a dip. It was freezing but well refreshed. if your in london definitely get down there.

I put my hands up and admit, I have been a bad bad blogger. With the end of 2nd year, then packing and the bf birthday, and a week in london the graduate fashion week, I haven't had much time to spread for blogging. But I'm back home now, doing some major unpacking and catching up with friends. I start my internship at Snow PR on the 28th june for a month, soo blogging by get slow again soon, eeeek.

So for the past week, I had the opportunity to work at gfw, which was amazing. There was alot of organising to do, people to sort out, to get into shows, goody bags to be packed, models to dress but it was fab. met vivienne westwood as you can see and the little kid from diversity (cutie) which was lovely. met some lovely people while doing it too. It was really nice to see that not only fashion designs can recognised too and there were loads of awards for fashion communication too which was nice.

These picture are all from a girl becca I met a gfw, she was lovely. Unfortunately I moved back from uni (hungover after the bf birthday) the day before gfw so couldn't find my camera to take so all credit goes to her.

This bank holiday monday, me and my boyfriend took a trip to london to see the last day of the pick me up exhibition at somerset house. There was a beautiful array of prints and patterns. Some of my favourite were obviously rob ryan, claire scully and richard sarson. Sadly its over now but im so glad i got down to london to see it. We also popped into selfridges and then down to brick lane to see what we could find, i picked up an amazing basketball jersey. Its still not sure if i like the pictures that we got done at rough trade but hey. its kind cute i guess.

When I was 14, I honestly don't think I had any direction in my life, my parents were always encouraging my interests in art and it obviously paid off but I think back then I was to young to think about what life had instore for me and what I would do in the future.

Its crazy to think Tavi, who is only 14 is an international blogging star who has met fashion legends such as Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld and the Rodarte sisters.

I was checking out her blog and saw her friend Spencer (who is also only 14) had taken these beautiful pictures of her. It was lovely to see pictures he had taken of his friends and see life through a kids eye.

We got set a brief over easter to produce work for our "dream" job. I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to do but I called with my tutor about my ideas and he was very interested that I would like to be an Art director. I've been searching for inspiration to some up with a concept of my own and depend some moodboards for them and research stylists and photographys.

I'm loving this shoot for Vogue Nippon by Sølve Sundsbø and beautifully styled by George Cortina. Creature seem to be everywhere at the minute so I might steer clear from this idea for my concept but I still think its very relevant now. Alot of Alexander McQueen seems to be heavy influences by insects and reptiles and other designers like Versace, Miu Miu have too.

Its time to TIE DYE

3 designers shoot out with their tie dye patterns for spring/summer 10. third place goes to Herve Leger for Max Azria with their beautiful marble like tie dye used within the panelled dresses. second place to Ports 1961 which a more subtle horizontal striped effect. But the number one stop has to go to Proenza Schouler who captured a reptile like tie dye effect within their garments.

This trend is definitely hot for 2010 and I plan to do some tie dying of myself next week. check back.

WAHnails, Dalston, London.

For my best friends birthday I took her to London, for some shopping and a show but the highlight of our day was getting our nails done at WAHnails done. I was fed up of my friend wearing horrible fake nails from boots and them falling off all the time so I thought she would enjoy having some proper nails for a chance. The chose of nail art was amazing, spoil for choice but obviously I had to go for the Chanel logo on mine and Hannah went for the leopard print.

I would recommend highly. I spoke to the owner and she talked about opening a salon in Nottingham, which I think would be brilliant.

Definitely going back.

Vice magazine
I was flicking through a friend's issue of Vice this weekend and this shoot really stood out to me. Yesterday we received our second semester work at uni and im really excited about all our brief especially the magazine/zine one. I would love to get into creative directing or be a stylist so this is perfect for me and this shoot has inspired me to start thinking of way I would compose my magazine.
Even though the layout is still really simple, its out a scrap book edge and is abit quirky. I really like it.

PRADA spring/summer 2010

was definitely one of my favourite collections for 2010 purely for the prints.

BUT this photographs highlight the other brilliant garments in the collection like the heavy embellished dresses and cropped jackets. Also the composition is so playful.

David Koma

is probably one of the most talked about fashion designers of the moment. When I saw his designer on cheryl cole on one of the X Factor shows I wasnt that impressed but from a recent visit to London when I popped into Browns, my mind changed.

His dresses are beautifully cut and structured. His embellishments are totally edgey and really fresh. His new spring/summer 2010 collection is definitely going to be a hit.

He is definitely one to watch.

When we went over to Vancouver Island we stayed in Fanny Bay and were lucky to stay in a family friend's 5 star hotel over the bay. I think it may be one of the best places I've ever been too. It was seriously idyllic and relaxing. I will definitely be going back there.
